Toddler Activity Bags

Alright, I'll admit that I've been on quite a create-lots-of-things-for-Maddie kick lately. I think it's because I feel like my life is settling down and I'm feeling so peaceful and happy that I can get back into Maddie learning-mode. Madison and I love these activity bags (originally learned about on Chasing Cheerios) and I've been busily putting new ones together. Keep in mind that 90% of the things shown here are from the dollar store, from the bags to the stickers to the first aid kit. :)
Here's a shot of all the activity bags, old and new. The new ones are described below and the old ones are finger puppets, the Brown Bear pictures and the photo puzzles. I'm going to keep some on the hooks in her preschool space and rotate others out for when we go to restaurants.
This is a fun one, full of things for her to open and close. There are little boxes and canisters, as well as a contact case and a special little box that is almost like a puzzle.
Here are some art ones. There's one filled with new markers (the Pip Squeak ones; so cute!) and paper and stamps, one with scissors and scrap paper and one stuffed with stickers and paper.
I think she'll really like this one. For now, I'm calling it a practical life bag, and I've filled it with an eyeglass repair kit (she LOVES tiny things and there's a little rag, screwdrivers and magnifying glass inside; I removed the screws), a calculator and some price stickers.
**I just realized that there's a doctor kit too, but I guess I didn't get a picture of it. Inside that one is a first aid kit, a tiny doctor's set (found on clearance at Lakeshore for $0.50 months ago) and some tiny toothbrushes. In the picture of all of them, it's the green bag.**
And finally, here's what I saw when I came out to the garage this morning. Mike has been cleaning up and organizing the space and came across a ton of books that used to be in my classroom. They were all snuggled up reading a book about... birthdays. It is our favorite topic, after all.

Seriously, Jill, how do you come up with all this stuff?? I am in complete awe... Of course, I also have no idea how I'd do any of these activities with Alex, given his extremely short attention span and propensity towards destructiveness. :-( Nevertheless, I'm totally itching to go to the Dollar Store tomorrow!

Ha Kristin! I read LOTS of blogs and I remember things from when I worked in kindergarten classes. I brought a couple of the bags with us when we went to lunch today and she spent over half the time playing with the screwdrivers and calculator (and fortunately and amazingly, the screwdrivers fit right into the calculator's screws so that was even more thrilling; Lol) bag.

As though you didn't know, I LOVE the dollar store!! And you know, boys really are so different from girls. I never really bought into that theory until I was really around boys and girls of the same age.

I'm rambling. Anyway, go shopping and have fun!!
